Searches in a criminal case on "preparation of mass disorder"

Several searches are taking place this morning in a criminal case concerning the preparation of mass riots. The information was made public by the Inspectorate General of Police (IGP).

The raids will be carried out in several localities across the country by employees of the Organised Crime Investigation Directorate of the INI and the General Directorate of Criminal Prosecutions, together with PCCOCS prosecutors.

The file concerns preparations for mass riots from 18 September 2022 to the present. The investigations are being carried out in view of the fact that, contrary to the Law on assemblies, preparations for mass riots were allegedly made, including the transportation from different regions of the country to Chisinau of several persons, in particular young people, including previously convicted persons, instigated to commit new crimes. Other roles within the organised criminal group included the recruitment of individuals to participate in destabilisation.

Several similar raids were carried out late last year.
