"ePrescription" electronic system expands compensated list

Patients diagnosed with endometriosis, individuals suffering from cardiovascular diseases, and those undergoing immunosuppressive treatment after organ transplantation will have access to new medications covered by mandatory health insurance funds (AOAM).

In the case of endometriosis, a medication containing the active substance Dienogest will be available in pharmacies under two trade names and will be partially compensated. This drug helps reduce pain, slow disease progression, and improve long-term quality of life for patients. The estimated annual cost for this treatment from AOAM funds is approximately 7 million lei.

For patients with hypercholesterolemia and for the prevention of cardiovascular complications, a combined medication containing Rosuvastatin and Ezetimibe has been added to the compensated list. This treatment will be available in three commercial variants and will be partially compensated, helping to lower cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events. The additional expenses for this treatment are estimated at around 2 million lei per year.

The therapeutic indications for Methylprednisolone, which is used in post-transplant immunosuppressive therapy, have also been expanded. Patients will be able to obtain their medications through the "ePrescription" electronic system, with access to two trade names, one of which will be fully compensated.

Medications are prescribed by either family doctors or specialist physicians.
