Speaker Grosu coordinates flood relief in Ialoveni

Moldovan Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu assessed severe flood damage across Ialoveni district on Sunday following torrential overnight rains. Emergency response teams and local authorities continue active operations to clear blocked infrastructure and secure damaged properties.

State meteorologists have issued further weather alerts, warning that heavy precipitation will persist across the country in the coming days.
Emergency response on the ground
Field conditions remain critical following a night of severe downpours, according to updates shared by the head of the legislature.
„Today I went to the villages affected by the heavy rains in Ialoveni district. It was a difficult night both for locals and for rescuers, road workers, and local public authorities. Interventions continue even at this hour to remedy the consequences caused by the bad weather,” Igor Grosu stated.

Impact on local infrastructure
The severe weather heavily impacted Gangura commune, where flash floods damaged an eight-kilometer stretch of local road and affected numerous properties. Massive water accumulations also paralyzed transport routes and submerged homes in the neighboring villages of Puhoi and Tipala.
„In Gangura commune, a road section with a length of approximately 8 kilometers was damaged, and over 100 households suffered. In the localities of Puhoi and Tipala, massive accumulations of water were recorded, which caused the flooding of some households and the blocking of some sections of local road,” the Parliament Speaker specified.

National safety advisories
The hydrological impact extends beyond Ialoveni, with significant storm damage reported across multiple administrative regions of the Republic of Moldova.
„The rain last night caused damage in several regions of the country. Unfortunately, the weather forecast indicates precipitation in the following period as well. It is important that, during these days, we remain vigilant, respect the authorities' recommendations, and call the 112 Service in case of need,” Grosu transmitted.

The Speaker concluded by commending the mobilization of emergency services, municipal staff, and regional security personnel currently deployed in the flood zones.
„I thank everyone who worked throughout the night and continues to offer support to the affected communities: rescuers and firefighters from the IGSU, police officers, road workers, and local authorities,” Grosu emphasized.
Saturday's heavy rainfall triggered emergency interventions across ten districts nationwide, requiring the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) to deploy rapid-response units to mitigate widespread flash flooding.
