Army engineers deploy to unblock flood-ravaged roads

Moldovan National Army soldiers deployed to the village of Pănășești in the Strășeni district on Sunday following severe flash floods caused by torrential rains overnight. Troops from the "Codru" Engineer Battalion arrived on-site after local public authorities requested immediate operational assistance to manage the crisis.

The emergency deployment includes specialized active personnel and military hardware to assist the affected population.
Emergency response operations
According to the Ministry of Defense, “soldiers from the 'Codru' Engineer Battalion are intervening in Pănășești locality, Strășeni district, affected by the torrential rains recorded during the night of June 6 to 7."
Engineers are focusing on restoring vital infrastructure and ensuring civilian safety. The defense ministry confirmed that soldiers are currently conducting “works of cleaning and unblocking access roads, evacuation of affected property, as well as actions meant to facilitate the access of intervention and first-necessity services to citizens.”

Institutional readiness
Military authorities stated that specialized emergency response frameworks remain on high alert across the country to counter further severe weather risks.
"Forces designated for intervention in exceptional situations remain in a state of readiness and are ready to act at the request of the competent authorities," reported the National Army's Command Operations Centre.
