TRM seeks new General Director

The Supervisory Board of the Public Institution "Teleradio-Moldova" (TRM) announced a competition for the position of general director following the resignation of Vlad Țurcanu.

Applications for the position can be submitted until July 10 at 5:00 p.m. They may be delivered in person on paper at the headquarters of the "Teleradio-Moldova" Company or in digital format with an electronic signature.

Candidates must be citizens of the Republic of Moldova and possess a higher education degree in journalism, communication, law, public administration, management, or another relevant field.

Additionally, candidates must have an impeccable reputation, a minimum of five years of managerial experience, and proficiency in Romanian and at least one of English or French at level B1.

Individuals who are politically affiliated, have a criminal record, or are prohibited from holding certain positions or engaging in specific activities due to a court sentence are not eligible.

The application submitted by candidates must include identity documents, educational diplomas, and a managerial project outlining a development plan for the company over the next seven years. Candidates must also provide affidavits and documentation demonstrating the absence of criminal records.

According to the Audiovisual Media Services Code, the general director of the national public media service provider is appointed through a public competition conducted by the Supervisory Board. This appointment is for a term of seven years, which cannot be renewed.

It is important to note that the current general director of TRM, Vlad Țurcanu, who has held this position since December 2021, announced his resignation on May 18 at a press conference two days after the Eurovision final. This decision was made amid a wave of criticism over the scores awarded by the national jury, whose composition was determined by TRM for this music competition.

Vlad Țurcanu will continue to fulfill his duties until a new general director is appointed, but this period cannot exceed six months from the date the position became vacant. The Deputy Directors General will also remain in their roles until a new General Director is appointed.
