Seven associations awarded for community impact

Seven organizations and associations that contribute to community development in the Republic of Moldova were honored at the Civil Society Gala. They received grants to further advance their projects, highlighting the active role of civil society and emphasizing the need for ongoing support.

The award in the "Guvernanță mai puternică" ("Stronger Governance") category was presented to the Public Association "Cubul Femeilor Golubka" from Basarabeasca. This organization has been actively supporting women in the community for 23 years, encouraging their involvement in social activism.

"Today we received a certificate for 20,000 lei, which is a significant amount for us. We will use this money to repair the city square, a project we initiated in 2016. We work because we are passionate about our mission, and receiving this award was unexpected," said Raisa Voroniuc, the association's administrator.

In the "Societate mai puternică" category, the winners were representatives from Causeni, specifically from the Public Association "Vicon." They recently completed a project in the village of Sălcuța, Causeni district, where they inaugurated a social laundry funded by European contributions.

"We have many more ideas we want to implement, and we hope this award will serve as a foundation for a new project. The space for the social laundry requires additional investments, and we will make decisions together with our team," commented Maia Porumbrica, the administrator.

The "Inima Nordului" Public Association from Ocnița received the award for the "Stronger Economy" category. This organization supports young people in rural areas who want to develop and start businesses from their homes.

"This award is proof that our efforts are visible and effective. The young people who benefited from this project, which led to our recognition, are truly happy and fortunate that their businesses are thriving and gaining international attention," stated Daniela Belic, the administrator.

The awards were presented by the ambassadors of European countries accredited to the Republic of Moldova, along with representatives from national authorities.

“I can say that year after year, the quality of expertise, activities, and ideas generated by civil society in response to complex and new challenges continues to improve,” declared Igor Grosu, President of the Parliament.

“Your work is not only impressive; it is essential. It is crucial for the democratic resilience of the Republic of Moldova, for social progress, and for your European future. Please continue your inspirational efforts. Your contributions are recognized, valued, and deeply appreciated, from Ocnița to Basarabeasca, from Căușeni to Tiraspol, and from Bălți to Cahul,” emphasized Iwona Piorko, the Ambassador of the European Union to Chișinău.

The Civil Society Gala has now reached its ninth edition.
