Over 70 million lei in grants awarded to 131 entrepreneurs
The Organisation for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA) has provided grants totalling over 70 million lei to 131 entrepreneurs. This funding is expected to generate twice the investment in the national economy and create 800 jobs.
Artiom Snegur is the co-founder of a video game development company that has been offered a grant of half a million lei by ODA.
"We applied to this program primarily for technical support. This grant will enable us to afford more efficient equipment for developing our products, as well as to promote them in the international market," explained Artiom Snegur.
Elena Mîțu, a Moldovan returning from ten years in Germany, has started a perfume business in her home country.
"Initially, we will hire four employees, including a perfumer from abroad, while we train our local staff to produce according to European standards. In the future, we plan to expand our team, as our most significant investment is not only in equipment but also in essence," stated entrepreneur Elena Mîțu.
Natalia Pruteanu operates a furniture factory in Chișinău. She plans to invest the 800 thousand lei received from ODA in new equipment.
"Time and speed of production are crucial for us. To be competitive in exports, we need to increase our production volumes. That's why we are investing in equipment to enable future exports," said Natalia Pruteanu.
Grants, preferential loans, and other support tools for entrepreneurs generate new investments and create jobs.
"From 2022 to today, over 7,200 entrepreneurs have received financial support in various forms. Most of this support is non-refundable, but we also offer many refundable options, such as preferential loans. According to last year's statistics, 98 percent of the non-refundable financial support has been granted to various industries," said ODA director Vadim Codreanu.
The grant program, totalling 72 million lei, is financed by the state budget and by a program supported by the World Bank Group.
