Three foreigners found in wheat field after illegal border crossing

Moldovan border guards, in collaboration with their Romanian counterparts, detected a case of illegal border crossing by three foreign nationals who crossed the Prut River from Romania into the Republic of Moldova.
On June 20, three individuals were observed carrying luggage as they moved deeper into Romanian territory. Later, they entered a wheat field to hide.
Following a joint patrol's search and surveillance efforts, which included support from a canine team and drone technology, the three individuals were found hiding in the wheat field. They were subsequently intercepted and identified.
According to the Border Police, one of the individuals required medical attention and was assisted by a medical team before being transported to a medical institution.
Upon further checks, it was determined that the individuals were Bangladeshi citizens, aged 31 to 40. Investigations revealed that they had swum across the Prut River towards Vetrișoaia in Vaslui County, intending to reach Bucharest to seek employment.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident as a case of fraudulent border crossing. The migrants were handed over to the border authorities of the Republic of Moldova for further investigation.
