Romania and Moldova launch joint music export strategy for Europe

The Republic of Moldova will partner with Romania in a strategic European initiative aimed at promoting live music. This collaboration marks a significant step toward Moldova’s integration into European cultural export mechanisms through a high-level dialogue with Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS), one of Europe’s most influential music export platforms.

The process was initiated during the East European Music Conference (EEMC) in Bucharest. The framework positions Romania as the official Focus Country at ESNS 2029, with Moldova integrated as a strategic partner country to promote regional talent internationally.

Strategic integration into the European ecosystem

According to the Ministry of Culture, this initiative offers Moldova an unprecedented opportunity to strengthen its footprint in the European live music sector. The joint framework aims to build sustainable international visibility for Moldovan artists while connecting local businesses to European networks, festivals, and professional markets.

The collaborative approach, backed by key platforms like ESNS, serves as a vital gateway for national talent and institutions. Moldova’s Minister of Culture, Cristian Jardan, emphasized that the partnership opens structural avenues for European integration through institutional agreements. He also extended gratitude to Romania’s Ministry of Culture and Minister Andras Demeter for their continuous support.

A public-private model for Eastern Europe

Romania's Minister of Culture, Andras Demeter, described the agreement as a milestone for the Eastern European live music ecosystem. He noted that the dialogue with ESNS is the first step toward building a long-term, structured presence for regional music on major European stages. The strategy will actively involve both public institutions and the private cultural sector.

The joint campaign will be developed and managed by ARTEXIM and the East European Music Conference under the unified banner of Romania & Moldova Music Export. The initiative will focus on aligning cultural policies, expanding export infrastructure, and securing long-term international positioning for Eastern European artists.
