Roma community leader Artur Cerari dies

The Roma community in the Republic of Moldova is in mourning after the passing of Artur Cerari, the baron from Soroca. The news of his death was announced on July 4 by the "Vocea Romilor" Coalition.
It is with deep sorrow that we learned of the passing of Baron Artur Cerari. His departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the entire Roma community that respected and followed him. We extend our sincere condolences to his bereaved family. Artur Cerari became the baron of the Roma community in 1998, following his father Mircea Cerari's death. He played a significant role in mediating conflicts, representing the interests of the Roma, and preserving their traditions and customs.
Over the years, he has been involved in numerous social and cultural initiatives to support the Roma community in the Republic of Moldova.
Artur Cerari passed away at the age of 65 due to complications from an incurable disease.
According to some traditions within the Roma community, his funeral may take place in about three weeks, during which time the funeral ceremonies and preparations will be organized.
