New AI course for students launched

The Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) launched a free course on artificial intelligence (AI) on Tuesday, July 7. This course is designed for middle and high school students, as well as anyone interested in the field. Participants will learn how to create effective prompts (instructions), configure a virtual agent to handle some daily tasks, and explore other useful topics.

“Dear students, use your summer vacation to complete this course so that you can return to school better prepared to use this new tool productively. My goal is to encourage you to explore artificial intelligence not as a shortcut, but as a means to develop your self-confidence and critical thinking,” declared the Minister of Education, Dan Perciun.

The course consists of 26 video lessons, each lasting up to four minutes, and can be accessed for free on the Ministry of Education and Research's YouTube channel.

The topics covered include securing accounts, verifying sources when AI produces “hallucinations” (generates false information), transforming ChatGPT into an effective personal tutor, interacting with documents and images, and analyzing data.

Through these practical examples, young people will learn to use AI-based technologies safely, responsibly, and creatively.

This project is implemented by UNICEF Moldova in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Research, with support from the Global Partnership for Education (GPE).
