Moldovan troops join France's Bastille Day parade

A contingent of Moldovan military personnel will participate in the traditional military parade held in Paris to celebrate the National Day of the French Republic, which is observed annually on July 14. According to the Ministry of Defense, Moldova will be represented at this event by the flag-bearing group from the Honor Guard Company of the National Army.

The military of the Republic of Moldova will participate in a march along the Champs-Élysées alongside representatives from the French Armed Forces and other partner countries.

This event will take place in the presence of high-ranking officials from the French Republic and distinguished guests from various nations.

The military contingent from the Republic of Moldova will be led by Major Vitalie Josan, while the State Flag will be carried by Sergeant 2nd Class Sergiu Ceburciu.

We remind you that this marks the Republic of Moldova's second participation in the military parade in Paris.

The military parade on July 14 along the Champs-Élysées will be “more massive” and will have the theme “the strategic awakening of Europe”. It aims to demonstrate that France is “determined” and “not alone,” as announced by the military governor of Paris, as reported by AFP.

General Loïc Mizon stated at a press conference, “We will have a more massive, stronger, and more modern parade.”

The event will feature nearly 8,500 participants, with 6,500 marching on foot. Additionally, around 300 vehicles will take part, including approximately one hundred motorcycles, 95 airplanes, 35 helicopters, and 193 horses from the Republican Guard.

Ukraine, now in its fifth year of war following the conflict that began with Russia in 2022, will be honored during the parade. A French patrol will open the air show, accompanied by two Mirage 2000 aircraft flown by Franco-Ukrainian crews.

President Emmanuel Macron has invited the 35 countries of the Coalition of the Willing, who are prepared to provide security guarantees to Ukraine once a ceasefire with Russia is reached, to participate in the parade. This will be Macron's tenth and final parade as head of state.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and General Alexus Grynkewich, NATO’s supreme commander, have also been invited.

General Mizon emphasized that the presence of allies and partners must show that “Europe is not alone.”
