Nisporeni undergoes major development with over 85 million lei in investments

The town of Nisporeni is entering a new phase of development. The Satul Nou neighborhood will be modernized through a project worth more than 22 million lei. At the same time, construction has begun on a regional wastewater treatment plant and the expansion of the sewerage network, with investments exceeding 63 million lei.
"It is an urban revitalization area because one of the funding mechanisms under the regional development program focuses on urban regeneration. We are talking about areas that have experienced socioeconomic and historical decline, and through our projects we aim to revive them both socially and economically," said Ion Pînzari, Director of the Centre Regional Development Agency (ADR Centru), during the Zi de Zi program on Radio Moldova.
According to the official, construction has also begun on a new regional wastewater treatment plant, which will treat wastewater from both the town of Nisporeni and the commune of Vărzărești, while also having the capacity to serve several nearby localities.
"These two projects are closely connected because we previously invested around 60 million lei in expanding the town's sewerage system. Now, to accommodate that increased capacity, we are upgrading and expanding the wastewater treatment plant to ensure proper treatment of wastewater and protect the environment. As for the urban infrastructure in the Satul Nou area, roadways and sidewalks are often damaged after water supply and sewerage works. Through this project, submitted by the Nisporeni Town Hall and selected for funding, we will improve the area's appearance and quality of life. Residents will benefit not only from water supply and sewerage services, but also from modern road infrastructure," Ion Pînzari added.
According to the ADR Centru director, regional development projects are selected based on several criteria, one of the most important being the number of beneficiaries, as investments are directed where they will have the greatest impact on the population.
"From an economic perspective, no serious investor will choose a locality that lacks water supply networks, sewerage systems, public utilities, or proper access roads. Before projects are selected—not only in the case of Nisporeni but across all regions—we use the same evaluation mechanisms, focusing first and foremost on maximizing the number of beneficiaries and ensuring long-term social and economic impact," Pînzari explained in an interview with journalist Veronica Scorpan.
He also noted that ADR Centru is currently implementing around 40 regional development projects across every district in the country.
"We are building a sewerage system in Strășeni, an agricultural market in Ungheni, carrying out another urban revitalization project and improving road access in Telenești, as well as constructing a sports complex in Șoldănești. Practically every part of the country is benefiting from projects that have a meaningful impact on our citizens," the Director of the Centre Regional Development Agency concluded.
