Moldovans abroad invited to explore their homeland

In August, Moldovans living abroad are invited to rediscover the beauty of the Republic of Moldova through a series of excursions and hikes. The Diaspora Relations Bureau (BRD) is encouraging Moldovan citizens to participate with the motto "Let's get to know our country!" Summer is a great time for travel, as many people are on vacation, making it an ideal opportunity to explore.
This year, BRD is organizing these hikes and excursions in partnership with the National Tourism Office.
“Considering the previous year and the large number of registrations of the wishes to get to know and discover the Republic of Moldova, I said that we are going on a hike, on a traditional excursion this year as well,” said Doina Popa, senior consultant at BRD, on the “Zi de Zi” show on Radio Moldova.
Thus, on August 8 and 9, the excursion will be to the “Plaiul Fagului” Natural Reserve. On August 9 - the “Căpriana - Codrii Moldovei” hike. And on August 15 and 16, the “Charm of the Nistru” route and the excursion to the Village Museum and vineyards.
"We said we wanted to strengthen the connection of citizens in the diaspora with the Republic of Moldova, by promoting the country's natural, cultural and tourist heritage, offering them the opportunity to discover their birthplaces and to encourage their return and involvement, even in local development", said Doina Popa.
According to the organizers, the experiences on the four routes would be unforgettable experiences in the middle of nature, local stories and connections with their native roots.
"We are going on the assumption of coming home, discovering or rediscovering their birthplaces or places that were not known before and, respectively, to communicate them further to the friends outside the country of these Moldovans who are abroad. At the same time, we want to show those who have been away for a long time or a short time that the Republic of Moldova is still a beautiful country and that we have many beautiful things. If they did not have the opportunity to discover them while they were in the Republic of Moldova - let them at least do it now to fill their homesickness", pointed out the consultant from BRD.
"From a logistical point of view, transportation, guide, water, hat and lunch are provided. The requests from the participants would be a good mood, obviously, comfortable shoes, and a lot of good cheer", added Doina Popa.
Access to these excursions is based on registration until August 5. This year, there will be 200 participants.
Registrations can be made both on the website of the Diaspora Relations Office, and on the institution's Facebook page, where more information about these hikes and excursions can be found.
