President Sandu on Ukraine's Statehood Day: "We will never stop believing in Ukraine's victory"

On Ukraine's Statehood Day, President Maia Sandu of the Republic of Moldova honoured the resilience of the Ukrainian people against Russian aggression and reaffirmed Moldova's full solidarity with Ukraine.

During a ceremony held on July 15 in Kyiv, the head of state recognized the efforts of those who continue to save lives and defend the country.

“Every day, the world witnesses something extraordinary. We see Ukrainians choosing courage over fear,” emphasized Maia Sandu, the President of Moldova.

She acknowledged the brave doctors who save lives under bombardment, the rescuers who tirelessly search for survivors under the rubble after each attack, and the military personnel who courageously defend their homeland.

In her speech, Sandu also highlighted that the people of the Republic of Moldova stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people, expressing their admiration, compassion, and unwavering support.

“We will never stop believing that Ukraine will win, and that good will triumph over evil,” the president confidently stated.

In conclusion, Maia Sandu expressed her gratitude to the Ukrainian people for their example of courage and their struggle for freedom.

“Thank you for showing the world that bombs cannot turn dignity into submission,” she declared.

At the invitation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Maia Sandu participated in the ceremony honoring Statehood Day in Ukraine, as well as in the Ukraine – South-Eastern Europe Summit, which focused on strengthening regional cooperation and support for Ukraine.

The events were also attended by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Romanian President Nicușor Dan, and other European leaders.

Sandu's trip to Ukraine occurred just two days after the Republic of Moldova joined the Coalition of the Willing, a group of over 30 states—mostly European—that have united to support Ukraine in achieving a ceasefire and ultimately a just peace, preventing further aggression.

On the sidelines of her visit to Kyiv, the president held bilateral meetings with her Ukrainian counterpart and other leaders attending events in the Ukrainian capital.
