Interim PM Eugeniu Osmochescu: New Government could be sworn in next week

Eugeniu Osmochescu led the first meeting of the interim Government, hoping it would also be the last, given the rapid pace of discussions regarding the inauguration of the new Executive.
"We are moving quickly to establish the new government. Based on what I have observed in the public sphere, this will likely happen next week," declared the interim prime minister at the start of the meeting on July 15.
In the context of the European Union opening Cluster 6 of negotiations with the Republic of Moldova, on July 14, Osmochescu extended his congratulations to "all citizens of the Republic of Moldova, including those in public institutions, the private sector, and the associative sector, for demonstrating collaboration, cooperation, and the integration of all efforts."
The interim prime minister emphasized the significance of this moment and reaffirmed the support of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the prompt opening of all negotiation chapters by the end of the year.
"We are not relenting; we are continuously working and demonstrating quality, as this is vital. One of the key points discussed regarding our progress as a state is not only the completion of the implemented reforms but their quality and results across all areas. It is not limited to just the first cluster," stated Eugeniu Osmochescu.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the interim prime minister addressed politicians who publicly accused the interim government of potentially adopting decisions that contradict the existing legal framework.
"You see that we had only a few issues to discuss, and I believe you should apologize to this interim government. We have operated within the parameters of government law and in accordance with the jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court," he concluded.
During the meeting on July 15, the government approved the state order for admission to higher education funded by the state budget and amended the regulation governing the administrative and financial activities of the Republic of Moldova's diplomatic service abroad.
The Executive also established the Preliminary Research Commission to declare the public utility of national interest for the construction works of the Drochia bypass sector on the R7 national road "R14 - Drochia - Costești - border with Romania," and appointed financial experts to participate in the Republic of Moldova's international arbitration process.
The acting Cabinet acknowledged the resignation of Roman Cojuhari from his position as General Director of the Public Property Agency, effective July 15, upon submission of his application.
Entrepreneur Vasile Tofan was officially nominated as the candidate for prime minister on July 11 by President Maia Sandu, following a proposal from the Action and Solidarity Party faction, which holds a majority in Parliament.
According to the Constitution, the designated candidate has 15 days to request a vote of confidence from Parliament regarding the program of activities and the full composition of the Government.
The Government fell after the resignation of Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu on July 3. The interim position is currently held by Deputy Prime Minister Eugeniu Osmochescu.
