How to use AI effectively: Expert tips
Artificial intelligence has increasingly become part of everyday life, assisting millions of people with tasks such as conducting quick research, writing texts, translating documents, and generating new ideas. However, not all platforms deliver the same quality of results, and the way we pose our questions can significantly impact the quality of the answers we receive.
A survey conducted in February 2026 found that 88% of students in the Republic of Moldova utilize artificial intelligence (AI), with over 60% using it daily or several times a week.
In light of these findings, the International Center "La Strada" in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Research, launched a national campaign titled "Let's Use Artificial Intelligence Safely". This campaign focuses on promoting the responsible use of AI technologies among children and adolescents.
Artificial intelligence is increasingly employed for various tasks, including homework, documentaries, translations, and writing. Data presented during the campaign launch revealed that one in two students uses AI to complete homework, while one in four students has discussions with chatbots about personal topics, such as relationships with parents and emotional well-being.
Experts emphasize that, in addition to using AI safely, it is crucial to choose the right tool for specific tasks and to formulate requests clearly to receive relevant answers.
Communication specialist Elena Știubei shared that the first step is to clearly define the purpose and audience for the communication.
"The most commonly used AI tools right now are ChatGPT, Claude, Mistral, and Gemini. These tools serve different purposes. AI can work exceptionally well as a personal assistant, simplifying everyday tasks, even those that may seem trivial to some, like cooking. For example, I can take a photo of the ingredients I have in the fridge and ask ChatGPT or Gemini for dish suggestions. However, I advise against using AI for generating images, as they often come out looking artificial. For research and text writing, I personally use Gemini," Elena Știubei noted on Radio Moldova.
She advises that goals should be clearly stated: "What do I want to achieve through this action?"
"I need to articulate what result I want, identify my target audience, determine the relevant channels for that audience, and consider how to construct the message—whether it will be a relevant video, image, or text," she added.
Choosing the right platform is important, but equally crucial is how we communicate with artificial intelligence to obtain useful and well-structured information.
"It depends on the tasks you set for artificial intelligence. I usually recommend being as specific as possible. Provide detailed information and clarity. For instance, if you want it to generate a text, specify the type of text you need: journalistic, artistic, or fantastical. Indicate the desired length, for example, ask for a five to eight-line text in Hemingway's writing style; AI can replicate that. Be clear about the topic and the audience for whom you are writing," Elena Știubei emphasized.
Experts recommend using artificial intelligence as a supportive tool for research, organizing information, and streamlining workflows, while stressing that final decisions and creative input should remain the responsibility of the user.
