Warsaw braces for Russian hybrid war provocations

Poland faces a "very high" and continuous threat of Russian provocations, requiring immediate defensive readiness, Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz warned.
The defense chief stated that Moscow recently seized a significant number of Ukrainian drones on the front lines. Military intelligence suggests Russia intends to deploy this equipment in deceptive, false-flag operations to mislead international observers.
The Polish Government Security Committee will convene today, July 21, to address the escalating hybrid tactics orchestrated by Moscow amid the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The warning follows a series of sharp military encounters. Last week, Polish and Swedish fighter jets scrambled to intercept Russian military aircraft over the Baltic Sea in three separate incidents.
"We face constant tests targeting the resilience of our air defense systems and critical infrastructure," Kosiniak-Kamysz noted, emphasizing that these activities include aggressive cyberattacks and systematic GPS signal jamming.
European Union and Polish authorities reiterate that Moscow is actively waging a coordinated hybrid war against states supporting Ukraine, utilizing cyber warfare, arson, and disinformation to destabilize the region.
