Chișinău advances urban mobility plan with new parking projects

Chișinău municipal authorities have launched construction on a new 70-space public parking facility at the intersection of Vasile Coroban and Nicolae Costin streets in the Buiucani district. The project comes in direct response to requests from local residents and forms part of a broader neighborhood revitalization initiative.
Alongside the parking lot, municipal crews will install a modern children's playground and fully replace the existing outdoor fitness facility. The initiative reflects a comprehensive approach to upgrading residential infrastructure across the capital.
Expanding municipal parking infrastructure
This project adds to several parking developments currently underway across Chișinău. Notable sites include a major 500-space facility in the Ciocana district and a 70-space parking lot in the city center.
In addition, municipal officials recently announced plans for a new Park and Ride complex on Codrilor Street, near the entrance from the Balcani Highway. Representing an investment of €331,600 (approx. 6.5 million MDL), the strategic facility aims to ease urban traffic congestion entering the capital.
Modern amenities and strategic PMUD 2030 vision
The Codrilor Park and Ride complex will accommodate 240 vehicles and is scheduled for completion by the end of this year. It will feature dual access and exit lanes, a modern passenger waiting platform, public restrooms, and newly landscaped green spaces.
Municipal authorities emphasized that expanding dedicated public transport lanes, establishing peripheral Park and Ride facilities, and opening new trolleybus stops near medical centers form core pillars of Chișinău's Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUD). The strategic roadmap defines the capital's transit development through 2030.
