Eight brands dominate Moldova's sausage market

The market for sausages and meat preparations in Moldova is primarily dominated by domestic production, unlike other sectors such as beer, juices, or dairy. Eight local brands hold a remarkable 90% share of the Moldovan sausage market, while the remaining 49 producers account for only 10%.
An analysis by Europolis indicates that imports play a minimal role in the market, with nearly all products on store shelves being manufactured in the Republic of Moldova.
Currently, the sausage market in the Republic of Moldova is primarily dominated by the Rogob and Carmez brands, which together hold almost half of the market share.
Among the largest companies in this sector, three are located in Chișinău, two in the Anenii Noi district, and the remaining companies are based in Stauceni, Bălți, and Criuleni.

Between 2019 and 2024, local producers saw their sales increase from 3 billion lei to 5.8 billion lei. However, this doubling in revenue does not indicate a doubling in consumption; instead, it reflects price increases during that time, according to Ghenadie Ivașcenco, the executive director of Europolis.
During the same period, the sector's workforce grew by over 14%, rising from 3,500 to 4,000 employees. However, the number of producers decreased from 62 to 57, with small companies, particularly those in rural areas that operated with low volumes, disappearing from the market.
