The police reported documenting 10 cases of begging in the Centru and Botanica sectors of Chisinau after conducting recent prevention and control actions. The individuals targeted, aged between 27 and 51, are suspected of feigning disabilities or claiming to be in difficult situations to obtain money from passersby. All those identified were sanctioned for minor offences.

The actions taken were part of the measures implemented by the Police to discourage begging in the capital.

According to law enforcement officers, "following recent checks, 10 instances of begging were documented in the Centru and Botanica sectors of Chisinau." The targeted individuals, aged between 27 and 51, "simulated disabilities or presented themselves as individuals in need to elicit sympathy from passers-by and obtain money."

In one investigated case, a 35-year-old woman claimed to be the mother of a person with disabilities and requested financial assistance. However, during the checks, she was unable to provide any documentation to support her claims.

The police stated that all individuals identified during these operations were sanctioned for minor offences in accordance with current legislation.

Additionally, the institution urges the public to take responsibility and not contribute to the issue of begging. Law enforcement officials encourage citizens "not to support begging and to choose genuine, verified, and responsible forms of assistance for those who are truly in need."
