Victor Parlicov: Gazprom does not receive money for the gas delivered to the Republic of Moldova since December
The Russian concern Gazprom does not receive money for the gas delivered to the Republic of Moldova since December, said the Minister of Energy, Victor Parlicov, during a program on TV8.
At the same time, the minister emphasized that Gazprom tolerates the debts of the left bank, although previously, when Russian gas was delivered throughout the country, the Russian concern resorted to limiting gas volumes or blackmail.
"I think that Gazprom is in a situation where it has become captive through its own model. Starting with December, Gazprom has not received any money for the gas delivered to the Republic of Moldova, as the Transnistrian region did not pay anything, so it does not pay anything, and Gazprom cannot be "happy" about this. On the other hand, it cannot give up this construction, which they also created for 30 years", said Victor Parlicov.
We remind you that, from December 2022, the Republic of Moldova receives from the Russian concern Gazprom a daily amount of 5.7 million cubic meters of gas. This is offered to the Transnistrian region in exchange for the supply of electricity. The right bank uses natural gas purchased daily from international markets and from reserves stored in Ukraine and Romania.
At the end of last year, the Republic of Moldova had 250 million cubic meters of natural gas in reserves. Later, the former Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Andrei Spînu, declared that he would no longer announce what gas reserves the Republic of Moldova has for security reasons.
