Teen's death in ATV crash prompts questions over vehicle access

A 17-year-old girl has died after her all-terrain vehicle crashed into a utility pole in Moldova's Ungheni district. The crash happened in the village of Stolniceni on Saturday evening, July 25, at around 10 p.m.

Moldova's General Police Inspectorate (IGP) said the girl died at the scene. Prosecutors have opened a criminal case.

According to preliminary findings, the teenager was driving a Viper-model ATV on a regional road linking Stolniceni to the nearby village of Bulhac. She lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road and struck the pole.

Investigators are now trying to establish how she obtained the ATV, and who allowed her to use it.
