The mother of the soldier from the Republic of Moldova, who was executed by the Russians, decorated by Volodimir Zelenski
The mother of Alexandr Matievschi, the soldier with Moldovan citizenship executed by the Russians on the Soledar front, received the Order of the Golden Star from the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
After the shocking images of Alexander Matievschi being executed by the Russian military while chanting "Glory to Ukraine!", the soldier became a symbol of Ukrainian resistance to the Russian invasion.
We remind you that the other day the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chisinau confirmed that the unarmed soldier who was shot by the Russian military is originally from the Republic of Moldova. The ministry vehemently condemned his killing, calling it a war crime and a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law. Earlier, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Alexander Matievskii was posthumously decorated with the title of Hero of Ukraine.
According to the Ukrainian media, Alexandr Matievschii was going to turn 43 on May 10. He was born in Chisinau, and since 2008 he moved with his family to Ukraine, in Nejin. He had no previous military experience, but after the Russian invasion of Ukraine he volunteered in the battalion, which defended the Chernigov region.
