Prime Minister Tofan meets Ukrainian Ambassador to boost bilateral ties
The Republic of Moldova and Ukraine reconfirm their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and advancing joint projects in the areas of economics, humanitarian efforts, infrastructure, and water resource management. These topics were discussed on Tuesday during a meeting between Prime Minister Vasile Tofan and the Ambassador of Ukraine to Chisinau, Paun Rohovei.
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries, with Prime Minister Vasile Tofan reaffirming Moldova's support for Ukraine amidst the ongoing war initiated by the Russian Federation.
"We stand with the Ukrainian people, who are defending not only their own country but also the security of our region," stated Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, condemning Russia's aggression against its neighboring state.
In response, Ukrainian Ambassador Paun Rohovei expressed gratitude to the authorities and citizens of Moldova for their support since the beginning of the war. The ambassador highlighted that the humanitarian aid sent from Moldova has played a crucial role in saving numerous lives.
During the meeting, officials acknowledged the strong political dialogue between Moldova and Ukraine and emphasized the significance of the European Union's enlargement process for both nations.
The parties also reviewed the status of various joint projects, such as the construction of the Cosăuți–Iampil bridge, the revitalization of the Moldovan-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation, and the utilization of existing regional cooperation mechanisms.
Another topic discussed was bilateral collaboration in managing the Nistru River's water resources, as well as the operational exchange of information on the hydrological situation.
