Polish military investigates blast crater near Ukrainian border

A powerful explosion and a ten-meter crater were discovered in Poland's Lublin region near the Ukrainian border, triggering a multi-agency emergency response. Emergency services, police, and military units arrived at the scene near the village of Tarnawa-Kolonia, located roughly 50 kilometers south of Lublin.

Local residents reported hearing a loud detonation during the night. The Polish Operational Command confirmed that emergency crews are currently securing the impact area.

Military jets scrambled following radar detection

Polish airspace radar detected an unidentified object entering the country's airspace at 3:40 AM local time. Military authorities immediately scrambled an F-16 fighter jet to intercept the target, which disappeared from radar screens six minutes later.

A Mi-24 helicopter subsequently pinpointed the probable crash site near Tarnawa-Kolonia. Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesperson for Poland's Special Services Coordinator, stated that officials cannot provide further details at this stage.

Debris found two kilometers from nearest homes

Regional police officers responded to an alert from the Warsaw Airspace Control Center regarding a loud explosion heard between Tarnawa-Kolonia and Biskupice. Officers discovered the crater and scattered wreckage on an open field shortly after 5:00 AM.

The debris field lies between Tarnawa-Kolonia and Tokary, approximately two kilometers from the nearest residential buildings. The incident coincided with a large-scale Russian air strike targeting several regions across western Ukraine during the night.
