Cyberattack targets Education Ministry website; users urged to avoid suspicious pages

On August 1, the website of the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) experienced a cyberattack that resulted in unauthorized alterations to its source code. The MEC has reported that the incident redirected users to external websites and partially disrupted the functionality of certain pages on the site.

According to the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC), technical teams took action to contain the incident, eliminate unauthorized changes, and restore the platform’s normal functionality.

"The institution's website was targeted in a cyber attack. Preliminary information indicates that unauthorized changes were made to the source code, resulting in users being redirected to third-party websites,” stated the Ministry of Education and Research.

The MEC has announced that the incident is under investigation, and specialists are currently analyzing the circumstances surrounding the attack.

The ministry advises anyone who accessed the website during the incident to avoid interacting with suspicious pages or content and to rely solely on the ministry's official channels for accurate information.
