Moldova reaches Beach Soccer Superfinal after fourth-place finish
The Republic of Moldova national beach soccer team finished fourth in the Euro Beach Soccer League Division A qualifiers after a 5–3 defeat against Germany in the third-place play-off.
Despite the loss at the La Izvor Arena in Chișinău, the host nation secured qualification for the prestigious Euro Beach Soccer League Superfinal.
Moldova took an early lead in the first period following an own goal by Germany's Jannes Peterson. Head coach Ruslan Pernai’s side doubled their advantage in the second period through a strike from Andrei Florea.
Germany responded swiftly when goalkeeper Thilo Mülling pulled one back with a long-range shot. Jonas Schulte then tapped home the equalizer from close range before Peterson redeemed himself with a spectacular bicycle kick to put Germany ahead.
Germany seized control of the match in the final period, extending their lead with goals from Noah Paul Baaske and Oliver Römrig. Cătălin Beșelea scored a late consolation goal for Moldova, setting the final score at 5–3.
By finishing among the top four teams in the Chișinău tournament, Moldova qualified for the Euro Beach Soccer League Superfinal. The final event will take place in the Italian resort of Viareggio from September 8 to 13.
