Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration: "Assets for sale on the left bank of the Nistru belong to Moldova"
The authorities in Chișinău issued a warning concerning the privatizations announced by the Tiraspol authorities. They caution that individuals or companies participating in these privatizations will assume legal and financial risks. Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Valeriu Chiveri, made these statements in light of information about the separatist administration's plan to sell additional assets in the region.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the Republic of Moldova does not recognize the privatization acts carried out by the Tiraspol structures in the eastern districts, stating that these assets belong to the state.
"The assets that were put up for sale or included in the privatization list in the eastern districts are property of the Republic of Moldova. I want to emphasize that they are the assets of the Republic of Moldova, and any privatization actions carried out outside the national legal framework do not have legal validity," Chiveri declared following the Government meeting on August 5.
The official clarified that this warning does not apply to the private properties of residents in the Transnistrian region, such as apartments, houses, or land, but solely to state assets.
Additionally, the Deputy Prime Minister cautioned potential investors to carefully analyze any privatization offers made by the Tiraspol administration.
"If there are individuals who wish to engage in such privatization activities or accept these offers, they should be aware of the legal and financial consequences. I advise them to consider these actions carefully, as they could be much more costly than they appear at first," said the Deputy Prime Minister.
Valeriu Chiveri stated that as long as the constitutional authorities do not recognize these actions and deem them illicit, measures may be taken to facilitate the return of assets to state ownership during the process of gradual state reintegration.
