Moldova under severe thunderstorm and hail alert
Moldova is under a yellow alert for severe weather, facing imminent thunderstorms and potential hail. The Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring Authority issued the warning, which takes effect today, August 6, at 3:00 PM and will remain active until 1:00 AM on August 7.
Heavy rainfall and severe wind gusts expected
Northern and central regions are expected to bear the brunt of the atmospheric front, with widespread lightning strikes forecasted. Localized heavy downpours could produce rainfall quantities of 15 to 25 liters per square meter.
Authorities are also urging caution regarding high winds. Gusts are projected to reach between 15 and 20 meters per second, or approximately 54 to 72 km/h, creating potentially hazardous conditions outdoors.
