Maia Sandu discussed anti-corruption actions with the Secretary of State of the US Treasury
The anti-corruption actions taken by the Chisinau authorities and the support we need to accelerate this process, as well as the current situation in the Republic of Moldova and in the region, were the topics discussed in Washington by President Maia Sandu and the Secretary of State of the US Treasury, Janet Yellen.

Maia Sandu stated that our society welcomed the decision of the Office for Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Treasury to sanction 21 individuals and entities that defrauded public money, controlled justice and promoted Russian influence in Moldova.
The Head of State expressed hope that the example of the United States will lead other countries to support our anti-corruption efforts, and the list of sanctions will be filled with the names of other fugitives who have harmed the state.
Maia Sandu emphasised that currently the priority is the recovery of stolen assets, including those outside the country. In this sense, closer cooperation between Moldovan legal institutions and those of other countries, including the USA, is necessary. The topic of increasing US support for Moldova in the context of multiple crises caused by Russia's war in Ukraine was also addressed.
