The Republic of Moldova strengthens cooperation with the Kherson region: Two new partnerships with Ukraine
The Republic of Moldova is strengthening its cooperation with Ukraine’s Kherson region through two new partnerships, targeting both local public administration and higher education. The town of Cimișlia is set to conclude a cooperation agreement with the united territorial community of Belozersk, while the Technical University of Moldova has become a partner of the Kherson State Maritime Academy.
The Cimișlia Town Council examined and approved at the end of July the draft decision regarding the conclusion of a Cooperation Agreement with the united territorial community of Belozersk in the Kherson region.
“The deputies of the Cimișlia Town Council (Moldova) held an extraordinary meeting on July 29, during which they examined and approved a draft decision regarding the conclusion of a Cooperation Agreement between the city and the united territorial community of Belozersk in the Kherson region”, reads a statement published by the Republic of Moldova’s ambassador to Kyiv, Victor Chirilă.
In parallel, cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Kherson region is also expanding in the academic field. The legal procedure for concluding a cooperation agreement between the Kherson State Maritime Academy and the Technical University of Moldova has been completed.
The agreement was signed on the Ukrainian side by the rector of the Kherson State Maritime Academy, Doctor of Science and Professor Viktor Gusev, and on behalf of the Republic of Moldova by the rector of the Technical University of Moldova, Doctor of Science and Professor Viorel Bostan.
“The initiation of the partnership between these leading higher education institutions in Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, the negotiations and the signing of the agreement took place with the communication support of the Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum and with the personal assistance of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to Ukraine, Victor Chirilă,” the statement reads.
The two agreements create the conditions for developing cooperative relations between localities and educational institutions in the Republic of Moldova and the Kherson region, in a context in which ties between the two countries are expanding across several fields.
