Massive Russian missile and bomb attacks kill 9 in Ukraine
A combined Russian barrage of missiles, drone strikes, and guided aerial bombs killed at least nine people and injured dozens more across Ukraine overnight on August 11.
The attacks targeted critical infrastructure, industrial sites, and residential neighborhoods in Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, and the Dnipropetrovsk region.
In Zaporizhzhia, Russian strikes killed at least six people and injured 19 others. Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, reported that the bombardment damaged four apartment blocks, several commercial structures, and private garages.
The strikes also ignited widespread fires and left multiple districts without electricity. Emergency crews continue search and rescue operations as the casualty toll rises.
Russian forces also launched a ballistic missile toward Kyiv overnight. Blast damage and two craters were discovered on the grounds of a children's hospital in the capital's Shevchenkivskyi district, damaging windows and a gas pipeline.
Patients and medical personnel were inside air raid shelters at the time of the impact, avoiding casualties at the facility. Elsewhere in Kyiv, a drone strike hit a commercial warehouse, sparking a 1,200-square-meter fire and injuring one person.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian shelling and drone attacks killed three people, including a 15-year-old boy, and injured five others. Strikes across the Synelnykove, Kryvyi Rih, Nikopol, Kamianske, and Pavlohrad districts damaged apartment buildings, logistics warehouses, a bank, and private homes.
The overnight offensive follows earlier strikes on August 9, when a Russian drone destroyed the top floors of a 10-story residential building in Kharkiv, injuring nearly 20 people, alongside combined strikes that disrupted power and water supplies in the Odesa region.
