Moldovan agricultural subsidies surge 84% in H1

Moldova disbursed over €69.4 million (approx. 1.36 billion MDL) from its National Fund for Agriculture and Rural Development during the first half of 2026.

According to the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA), this expenditure accounts for nearly 60% of the fund's total annual budget of €116.8 million (2.29 billion MDL).

As of July 1, the agency retained €47.4 million (928.5 million MDL) in remaining financial resources for the second half of the year.

Post-investment grants drive growth

Post-investment grants recorded the strongest expansion, surging 84.2% year-on-year to reach €55 million (1.078 billion MDL). This payout consumed 84% of the €65.7 million (1.287 billion MDL) annual allocation for this category.

The average payout per investment project stood at €24,870 (487,500 MDL) in H1 2026, compared to €28,850 (565,600 MDL) during the same period in 2025.

Advance payments see sharp increase

Advance payments for new development projects also rose significantly, up 66.8% year-on-year from €6 million to €10.1 million (197 million MDL).

The most requested measure was the modernization of livestock holdings, which absorbed €9.5 million (186 million MDL) to establish and upgrade 262 farms.

AIPA has now utilized roughly 89% of the €11.3 million (221.7 million MDL) annual budget set aside for advance support.
