World Bank approves a new partnership framework with the Republic of Moldova for 2023-2027
The Board of Executive Directors of the World Bank Group approved a new Country Partnership Framework (CPF) for the Republic of Moldova, for 2023-2027. The framework aims to support the country's sustainable recovery, with a focus on reforms that support job creation and a greener economy.
Thus, the World Bank will support reforms in three areas:
- Increasing opportunities for formal employment;
- Improving the development of human capital;
- Increasing resilience to climate change and crises.
CPT also includes a cross-cutting theme of strengthening systems and institutions, including through digitization and capacity building.
"Moldova should seize the opportunity to transition to a more sustainable growth trajectory, one that leads to prosperity and a more inclusive economy, especially as it now moves closer to the aspired integration into the European Union. The World Bank is ready to support Moldova in the transformation of its economy and in raising the standard of living of the population", declared the country manager of the World Bank for Moldova, Inguna Dobraja.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the new CPT also provides for financing and analytical activities for the implementation of reform programs aimed at establishing economic growth and job creation.
We mention that, since the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the World Bank, about 2 billion US dollars have been allocated for over 60 country projects.
Currently, the World Bank's portfolio includes 12 active projects with a total commitment of US$650 million. The main areas of support include regulatory reform and business development, modernization of government services, tax administration, land registration, education, roads, health and social sectors, including the response to the COVID-19 emergency, agriculture, water supply, sanitation and energy.
