Moldovan cabinet approves senior government resignations and changes

The Moldovan Cabinet of Ministers accepted the resignations of State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) Director Iulian Iorga and two other senior state officials during its meeting on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
Iorga will officially step down on August 21. Justice Minister Vladislav Cojuhar praised his leadership, highlighting AGEPI’s vital role in supporting the business sector, national economy, and creative industries.
Leadership transition at the intellectual property agency
Deputy Director Natalia Mongol will assume the duties of acting director of AGEPI starting August 24.
Prime Minister Vasile Tofan emphasized the necessity of institutional tightening following the departure. “We need to bring order there, especially regarding copyright,” Tofan said during the cabinet meeting.
Additional cabinet and regional personnel shifts
Government Secretary General Alexei Buzu announced that State Secretary Roman Roșca will also resign from his post effective August 21.
Roșca stepped down to take a seat in parliament following the validation of his mandate by the Constitutional Court. The parliamentary seat became vacant after the resignation of former lawmaker Alexandr Trubca.
In a separate decision, the cabinet accepted the resignation of Valentina Dermenji, Deputy Head of the State Chancellery's Comrat Territorial Office, effective August 19. All personnel decisions received formal approval from the ministers.
