Moldova braces for heavy rains of up to 49 l/sq m

Moldova's national weather authority has issued a countrywide yellow code alert for heavy rainfall, effective Wednesday, 26 August. Meteorologists forecast significant precipitation, with local accumulations reaching up to 49 liters per square meter, occasionally accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms.

The warning was released by the Public Institution "Environmental Monitoring and Meteorology Authority" on 25 August at 14:30 local time.

Rainfall volumes and regional coverage

Forecasters warn that targeted areas could see intense downpours over short intervals as well as continuous rain throughout the day. Water accumulation is expected to range between 15 and 49 liters per square meter.

Specific zones covered by the warning are detailed on the authority's official risk map. Officials emphasized that the advisory will be updated as atmospheric conditions develop.
