Volodymyr Zelensky comments on the decision of the ICC to issue an arrest warrant on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky yesterday evening welcomed the "historic" decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue an arrest warrant in the name of Vladimir Putin, reports CNN, quoted by Digi24.

The Ukrainian president said investigations in Ukraine also suggested that the Kremlin had direct involvement in the forced deportation of children to Russia. Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in a video message that "in the criminal case investigated by Ukrainian investigators, more than 16,000 cases of forced deportation of Ukrainian children by the occupier have already been registered. But the real, full number of deportees may be much higher.

We remind you that yesterday, the International Criminal Court in the Hague issued international arrest warrants in the name of the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, as well as the Commissioner for Children's Rights, Maria Lvova Belova, who would be responsible for the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia.

Moscow reacted in a message published on Telegram. The spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, wrote that the decision of the High Court has no meaning for her country, because Russia is not a party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.
