Chiveri backs Romanian-language Evrika High School in Ribnita
Moldova's Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Valeriu Chiveri, attended the opening-bell ceremony at Evrika High School in Ribnita on the first day of the new academic year. The official highlighted the school’s crucial role in preserving Romanian-language education in the breakaway Transnistrian region.
Chiveri paid tribute to the teachers, students, and parents, praising their determination to keep the school operating despite persistent administrative pressures.
Commitment to linguistic rights
"I had the honour to attend the first-day ceremony at Evrika High School, an institution that remains a benchmark of Romanian-language schooling in this region despite all challenges," Chiveri said. He noted that their daily resolve is recognized at the highest level of government.
The deputy prime minister noted that President Maia Sandu previously awarded the Order of Honour to all Latin-script schools in the eastern districts, including Evrika High School.
Education as a path to reintegration
Chiveri thanked the teaching staff for fulfilling their mission under complex conditions. He reiterated the government’s long-term backing for Romanian-language education in the Transnistrian region.
"We stand with you because school means education, hope, and a better future in a reunited country," Chiveri concluded.
