A National Tourism Office will be established in the Republic of Moldova
In the Republic of Moldova, a National Tourism Office is to be created, that will implement policies in the promotion of tourist destinations and the tourist potential of the country. This was announced for Radio Moldova by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Andrei Chistol. According to him, the project is currently at the stage of public consultations and should be finalized by the middle of this year.
This office will ensure the implementation of policies in the field of tourism promotion, the development of the branch and the tourism potential of the country, along with the attraction of foreign tourists. The creation of this institution is determined by the need to have a clear vision of the development of the Republic of Moldova as a tourist destination and the positioning of the country on the European tourist map, said in an interview for our radio station, the state secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Andrei Chistol .
Andrei Chistol said that National Tourism Promotion Offices exist in most European states. The Balkan countries have a rich experience in this regard, and the Republic of Moldova will take over from their experience.
"We came up with the proposal to the Government, and the proposal is mostly supported, to start the process of setting up a National Tourism Office. The office will be the one that will implement these programs for financing the development of tourism, the programs for promoting the Republic of Moldova as a tourist destination, the program for the development of destination management organizations in the Republic of Moldova."
Currently, the initiative is at the stage of public consultations, and by the middle of the year, the decision could be approved by the Government, so that in the second half of the year they resort to the actual creation of the national office. This central specialized structure would be subordinated to the Government. It will also have in its composition representatives of tourism associations in the country.
