MEC launched two republican competitions for students

Students passionate about cinema and music can showcase their talents in two new competitions launched by the Ministry of Education and Research. The initiatives, titled "Independence Lived - Independence Told" and "Ode to Independence," will take place from September 10 to October 31 as part of the Decade of National Values.

The video contest is open to students in grades VIII-XII. Participants are encouraged to research the recent history of the Republic of Moldova and include testimonies from people who experienced the events that shaped the country's path to independence.

Video must be between 5 and 10 minutes long.

The second contest, titled "Ode to Independence," is open to students in grades I to XII, including those attending vocational education institutions. Participants can express their identity and connection to the country through music. Songs may be performed individually or in groups.

Applicants must submit entries for both contests by October 8, and the Ministry will complete evaluations by October 22.

While the date for the award ceremony has not yet been set, the Ministry of Education and Research anticipates it may occur in early November.

Competition regulations and registration forms are available on the Ministry of Education and Research website.

On August 27, 2026, the Republic of Moldova celebrated its 35th anniversary of independence. On that day in 1991, the Parliament in Chisinau adopted the Declaration of Independence, expressing the people's desire to determine their own future in a sovereign, democratic, and free state.

To mark this milestone, the 2026–2027 academic year began in all general education institutions across the country with a thematic lesson focused on the anniversary. Held on September 1 for students in grades I–XII, the lesson, titled “Independence that Unites Us,” explored the nation's history, democratic values, and the responsibility of each generation to shape the future of the Republic of Moldova.
