Moldova urges alternate route as Palanca border faces delays

Moldovan border authorities deployed extra staff and opened additional control lanes at the Palanca checkpoint to ease heavy outbound congestion, redirecting motorists toward the Tudora-Starokazacie crossing.

The Border Police reported a marked increase in passenger cars and commercial vehicles departing Moldova toward Ukraine, creating bottlenecks at the joint Palanca-Maiaki-Udobnoe border crossing point. Officials stated that border control operations are functioning at maximum processing capacity to speed up clearance procedures.

Authorities urge alternative routes

To prevent prolonged wait times, border authorities advised cross-border travelers to consider rerouting through the nearby Tudora-Starokazacie checkpoint whenever feasible.

“Control authorities are taking measures to streamline cross-border traffic, and operations are running at maximum capacity,” the Border Police said in a statement.

“We recommend cross-border travelers opt, where feasible, to cross through the Tudora-Starokazacie checkpoint,” the agency added.

Officials called on motorists to show patience amid the elevated traffic volume, noting that further operational updates will be issued if conditions evolve.
