Two drones illegally entered Moldova's airspace, one over Palanca
On the morning of Monday, September 14, two drones entered the airspace of the Republic of Moldova without authorization. This incident occurred during significant Russian attacks on the Odesa region of Ukraine. The drones were detected near the village of Palanca in the Ștefan Vodă district, as well as near the villages of Cioburciu and Pervomaisc, located on the left bank of the Nistru.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the first aircraft was detected at 10:33 after entering national airspace from the direction of Maiaki, Ukraine. The drone crossed the Republic of Moldova's state border near the village of Palanca, penetrating approximately 500 meters into national territory.
One minute later, at 10:34, the aircraft returned to Ukrainian airspace, following the same trajectory.
The unauthorized crossing of Moldovan airspace was confirmed by representatives of both the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
The second aircraft entered the airspace of the Republic of Moldova at 11:09, also from the direction of Ukraine, traveling near the village of Ciuburciu towards Pervomaisc. At 11:19, the drone exited national airspace near the Ukrainian village of Kuchurhan and continued its flight toward Stepove, Ukraine.
Authorities report that national agencies, along with their partners, continue to monitor the airspace to ensure citizens' safety.
We remind you that on September 12, another unmanned aerial vehicle made an unauthorized entry into the airspace of the Republic of Moldova from Ukraine. The National Army's Air Operations Service detected this drone at 15:26 near the village of Vasilcău in the Soroca district. The drone subsequently disappeared from radar near the village of Băxani, only to reappear at 16:03 in the area of Cuconeștii Noi, Edineț district. To ensure the safety of civil flights, authorities temporarily closed the airspace over the northern and central regions.
Authorities reopened the central airspace at 16:20, followed by the northern airspace at 16:30.
Later, Romanian media reported that the drone which had crossed the airspace of the Republic of Moldova crashed in Suceava County.
