Moldovan wines and films showcased in Bordeaux
The Republic of Moldova is showcasing its traditions, quality wines, cinema, and gastronomy in France through events in Bordeaux and Paris scheduled for September.
From September 14 to 18, the renowned Gironde wine region will host the inaugural edition of an event promoting Moldovan wines. Maison Tanase Wine & Spirits is launching this initiative under the banner "Journées des Vins de Moldavie à Bordeaux" (Moldovan Wine Days in Bordeaux).
During these five days, the public can discover over 30 wines from the Republic of Moldova at no cost. Each day will feature a different program, with a special focus on indigenous Moldovan grape varieties, according to the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in France.
From September 18 to 20, the Mérignac-Ciné cinema in Bordeaux will host the inaugural edition of the "Cronograf" Moldovan-Romanian Film Festival. This event is organized by the Liens et Racines (Bonds and Roots) Association and is supported by the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Moldova and Romania in France.
The festival will screen a variety of films, including feature films such as Comatogen, Băbuțe pe bărcuțe, Nebunul, Alive in Mo, and Pionul lui Lenin. The festival will also screen short films and a special children's section featuring the animated film Țup. The children's section will also include a hands-on workshop and discussions with special festival guests.
The events followed last weekend's showcase at Place de la Concorde in Paris, where the Republic of Moldova presented its most beloved national culinary specialties. These included sarmale (cabbage rolls), stew with mămăligă (polenta), oven-baked and pan-fried pastries, colaci (traditional braided bread), babă neagră (a dark, moist cake), "Cușma lui Guguță" (Guguță’s Hat cake), as well as wine, homemade juice, and many other artisanal delicacies, all masterfully prepared by skilled chefs.
The presentation of Moldovan cuisine was enhanced by performances from the folk dance ensembles "Unirea" and "Dance Pop Stars" directed by Andrei Busca.
