President of China visits Moscow
The President of China, Xi Jinping, is heading to Moscow, to make his first visit since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, BBC reports.
The official will meet Vladimir Putin, days after the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for the Russian leader for alleged war crimes. The two leaders are expected to announce the expansion of cooperation, after previously announced a "boundaryless" partnership. Russia, under tough international sanctions, is increasingly dependent on China as a market for its goods and looking for diplomatic support. Although they have announced a partnership without limits, Beijing has so far been reluctant to provide Moscow with lethal support for the war in Ukraine to avoid secondary sanctions against Chinese companies.
