Loud boom reported near Chișinău; police checking localities
A loud boom was reported this morning, September 18, near Chișinău, specifically southwest of the village of Colonița, toward Tohatin. Several individuals contacted the police through the 112 emergency service to report the incident. Law enforcement officers inspected the local area. So far, authorities have found no objects, signs of an explosion, or other public hazards.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, the first calls reporting a loud bang were received around 4:20 AM. Police officers were dispatched to the affected areas and conducted checks in Colonița and Humulești.
To locate the source of the noise, the search was expanded to the localities of Dolinnoe and Maximovca. Authorities state that this information is preliminary, and investigations are ongoing to determine all circumstances surrounding the incident.
Law enforcement is advising citizens to avoid approaching or touching any suspicious objects they may encounter. In such cases, steer clear of those items and immediately notify the police by calling the emergency number 112.
On social media, several users reported hearing loud bangs in Dolinnoe, Cruzești, and Budești, as well as in the Botanica and Centru districts of the capital. According to these online messages, people heard the noise around 3:57 to 3:58 AM.
