Igor Dodon's lawyers escape fines. Another court panel of the CSJ annulled the court's conclusions
Former president Igor Dodon's lawyers will no longer pay court fines. Another court panel from the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) annulled the court's decisions by which these sanctions were applied to them. This was announced today by the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office.
Also, one of the panel judges signed a different opinion.
The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office mentions that the reasoned decision will be ruled on March 27.
We remind you that, in February, Igor Dodon's lawyers were fined 2,500 lei each by the magistrates of the Supreme Court of Justice, for violating the order at the court session. Then, the lawyers submitted a new request to recuse the entire panel of judges.
In context, we mention that Igor Dodon is under judicial control until May 19 and cannot leave the Republic of Moldova. The former head of state is accused of claiming almost a million dollars from Vladimir Plahotniuc and Serghei Iaralov for promoting their interests. Previously, several hearings in the "Black Bag" case were postponed. Igor Dodon does not plead guilty.
