Maia Sandu visits Finland to discuss European integration and security
President Maia Sandu and her Finnish counterpart, Alexander Stubb, will discuss Moldova's European integration path and regional security. The two heads of state will meet on Friday, October 2, in Helsinki, during the working visit Maia Sandu is paying to Finland at the invitation of the Finnish president.
The discussions will also focus on bilateral relations between the Republic of Moldova and Finland. The meeting will be followed by a joint press conference, the presidential administration stated.
Additionally, Maia Sandu will join Alexander Stubb for the opening of the Helsinki Security Forum 2026, organized by the Finnish Institute of International Affairs.
The visit program includes meetings with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and the Speaker of the Finnish Parliament, Jussi Halla-aho.
The Head of State will also hold talks with various Finnish parliamentarians and officials who help develop relations between the two countries, the Presidency's statement added.
Alexander Stubb, a former Prime Minister of Finland, became the country's president in March 2024 following an election marked by tensions with Russia, which arose after the Nordic nation joined NATO on April 4, 2023.
