Moldovan police signed a bilateral cooperation agreement with Turkish authorities to train domestic specialists in advanced criminal forensics, the General Police Inspectorate announced on Friday.
Advanced forensics training in Ankara
The partnership was formalized during a meeting in Chisinau between the Chief of the General Police Inspectorate, Viorel Cernăuțeanu, and Turkish Embassy representative Ali Abbas Eyyüpoğlu. Supported by the GS Foundation and the Turkish Embassy, the multi-stage training initiative will be conducted by the Ankara Gendarmerie Forensic Department.
Specialists from Moldova’s Center for Technical-Forensic and Judicial Expertise will participate in the opening phase hosted in Turkey's capital. The curriculum focuses on 3D laser scanning, crime scene reconstruction, facial recognition, and the forensic examination of audio and video recordings.
Field expertise exchange in Chisinau
Turkish forensic experts will subsequently travel to Moldova on a study visit to continue hands-on instruction and institutional knowledge sharing with domestic law enforcement personnel.
The initiative aims to modernize investigative methodologies and strengthen the technical capacity of national police forces to resolve complex criminal cases, the inspectorate noted.
