The General Secretary of the Government, Artur Mija, emphasized that currently there are about 80,000 refugees from Ukraine on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. According to him, for the first time in the history of our country, in a limited time, a record number of asylum requests was registered.

Thus, for the purpose of the effective functioning of the national asylum system and in the interests of refugees, the Government approved the temporary protection mechanism, and after the cessation of the activity of the Single Crisis Management Center, the implementation of this mechanism will be ensured on the platform of the Commission for the Coordination of Migration and Asylum Activities.

We remind you that, this January, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the Government decision regarding the granting of temporary protection to displaced persons from Ukraine, which also involves obtaining an identity document, issued free of charge, for a period of one year.
